Music Lessons

Picture
Alexandra teaches out of a home studio N Portland and instructs anyone from young students to adults, anywhere between beginning, self-taught and intermediate. Alexandra emphasizes stick technique, rhythm theory, rudiments, time feels, and teaches many styles of drum set, as well as introductions to hand percussion. Alexandra customizes each lesson per student, empowering the student to articulate their needs and desires for their own learning environment and allowing every student to have a unique lesson plan.

Alexandra also teaches beginning theory lessons, and will provide custom lessons if students prefer to learn multiple instruments.

Alexandra believes strongly in the power of music and drumming and has studied drum circle techniques and music therapy resources. Understanding the emotional and mental healing that comes from playing music, Alexandra hopes that each student feels accepted and willing to dive internally to meet challenges head on.

In addition, Alexandra is an instructor with Girl's Build a non-profit organization based in Portland, OR, inspiring curiosity and confidence in girls through the world of building.  She is also a campus coordinator and teaching artist at PHAME, an arts academy for adults who experience developmental disabilities and neurological diversity. Alexandra believes music has the power to transform and change one’s abilities in all areas of their lives, and enjoys being able to collaborate with Girl’s Build and PHAME.

Lessons are offered on a sliding payment scale, and can be purchased in packages or per lesson.
