Music Lessons

Zanny teaches out of their home studio North Portland and instructs anyone from young students to adults, anywhere between beginning, self-taught and intermediate. Zanny emphasizes stick technique, rhythm theory, rudiments, time feels, and teaches many styles of drum set, as well as introductions to hand percussion. Zanny customizes each lesson per student, empowering the student to articulate their needs and desires for their own learning environment and allowing every student to have a unique lesson plan.

Zanny also teaches beginning theory lessons, and will provide custom lessons if students prefer to learn multiple instruments.

Zanny believes strongly in the power of music and drumming and has studied drum circle techniques and music therapy resources. Understanding the emotional and mental healing that comes from playing music, Zanny hopes that each student feels accepted and willing to dive internally to meet challenges head on.

In addition, Zanny has been an instructor with Girl's Build a non-profit organization based in Portland, OR, inspiring curiosity and confidence in girls through the world of building. They are also a Teaching Artist and Senior Manager of Student Engagement & Operations at PHAME, an arts academy for adults who experience developmental disabilities and neurological diversity.

Lessons are offered on a sliding payment scale, and can be purchased in packages or per lesson.
